How to get along and start with female staff?

How to break the ice with some female staff who are on the same floor of the office you are working and you only meet them in the lift and in the corridors way to the enter & exit door and above all you are really destitute of any single excuse or word to do this breaking. Oh, and it's not only breaking the ice!, you may manage to do that even if it's a inchoate one, but worse comes when you fail to keep the pot boiling to accomplish catching any fish. Please advise adroitly.
