Technology VS Fidelity - what are your thoughts?

A few years ago, I interpreted a dream for a girl at a dream journal site where I used to record my own dreams. Then, later, I found out she had a regular journal, which I started reading and commenting in. She seemed to take what I had to say seriously, even though we hadn't met. Occasionally, we instant messaged. At some point, my wife discovered my then-excessive interest in this girl, and made me realize that what I was doing wasn't appropriate for a married man. I honestly believe I never would have cheated on my wife with the girl, but the situation opened my eyes to how technology provides an avenue for meeting people who share your interests and who therefore might become objects of romantic interest.
